REQUEST FOR BIDS: Sleepers Weir 4 Removal - St. Johnsbury VT

The Caledonia County Natural Resources Conservation District, with financial assistance provided by Watersheds United Vermont through the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Clean Water Investment Program, is seeking competitive bids to remove a concrete weir and restore the Houghton Brook by an excavation contractor with experience in dam removal, in-river work, or work of a similar nature.  The concrete weir spans the width of Houghton Brook in St. Johnsbury, VT, adjacent to Goss Hollow Rd.  Work tasks will generally involve removal and disposal of concrete weir; removal and disposal of a concrete building, removal of trees; grading in restoration area and fill site, river channel formation; stream channel restoration using onsite bed materials and site restoration.  An optional pre-bid site meeting will be held April 21, 2026 at 10 am.  The bidding schedule is as follows:

RFP release:  Monday April 13, 2026

Pre-bid meeting:  Tuesday April 21, 2026 at 10 am (In-person)

Questions due:  Monday April 27, 2026

Bids due:  Wednesday May 13, 2026 at 4 pm

Notice of Award:  Friday May 15, 2026

Details of the project are provided in the Notice and Instructions to Bidders, which can be found below.  Electronic copies of the project plans, the advertisement for bid, and all other bid documents will be emailed to all bidders that request them via email to emily@caledoniacountynrcd.org or are present at the pre-bid meeting and provide their email address.
