Big Picture Planning and Strategic Decisions on Your Farm, Thurs. 11/6
November 6th , 2025
10:30am - 12:30pm
Location TBD
Drought, flood, unpredictability – now more than ever thinking strategically and proactively about your farm's future is critical to weathering the storm. Bring your vision, your records, and your questions to this small group workshop and get guidance no matter what stage of the business planning process you're in. Whether you're considering retirement, diversifying, simplifying, or new beginnings, Cheryl Cesario (American Farmland Trust Senior Livestock & Grazing Specialist) will walk us through a holistic farm planning process that will keep us on track to answer the most critical and practicable questions for long-term farm viability and resiliency.
We'll explore -
- Why we do the work we do, what are our core principles and beliefs, and how do we determine value propositions?
- What sets you and your farming business apart from the herd? Can you capitalize on this to move your business forward? Where to do you want to be in 5 years? What is going to give you an advantage to realize the vision you have?
- Are you also able to step back and evaluate your business from the 30,000 foot view? We will talk about strategic farm planning and those important but not urgent tasks that often go overlooked yet can make a real impact on your business if you can make the time.
- How are you adapting to climate variability? And how do you evaluate these climate adaptations in relation to your overall farm economic picture?
This workshop is free and open to the public. If you've been wondering about how to put your thoughts about into action but haven't been able to commit to a long term business planning program or don't know where to start, THIS is the session for you! Cheryl has led dozens of farms through this process, from hobby growers to dairy LFOs, so don't miss this opportunity to dive in.
